Lucy's first e-mail

date: Wed, Dec 3, 2008 at 12:48 PM
subject: Hi Everybody!

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to say that it's been nice getting to meet you all. After arriving in St Pete at 6:39am on November 9th, 2008 (weighing only 5lbs, 14oz), I've barely had time to myself. My Oma and Opa and Grandma and Grandpa and Uncles and Aunties and Mommy and Daddy and friends and lots of other people always want to hold me and carry me around. It's quite a cushy lifestyle, I must admit. Between having people carry me everywhere and wiping my dirty backside for me,
I'm pretty spoiled. All I have to do is cry and someone comes rushing to my service. I've got Mommy and Daddy so well trained!

Speaking of Mommy and Daddy, I feel I should mention something about them. After all, it seems as if people only care about me. I feel bad for them. Whenever we go anywhere they get pushed aside so people can point their bright flashing things at me (so annoying). But Mommy and Daddy work really hard and stay up really late just to do my bidding, so they deserve some kudos. So, to Mommy and Daddy, Thanks!
You're doing a heckuva job. But could you please warm up those wipes a bit more? Winter's coming and it's a bit chilly when my diaper is off. Also, can you keep that big furry drooling thing away from me? It keeps licking my head.

Daddy was kind enough to set me up with this e-mail account. Like Grandma, I'm still learning but figuring it out quickly. A few things still confuse me, though. Can anyone tell me what "v1agra" is? And what, exactly, do I need to get enlarged? Oh well, I'm sure I'll learn all about that stuff when I'm old enough for middle school.

That's about all I can do for now. It's been 15 minutes since Mommy last changed my diaper, so I'm about due for another. Plus I'm getting hungry. Maybe if I cry loud enough Mommy will feed me.

TTYL,
Lucy Gregson

Dear Lucy--

We knew you would be clever, coming from two such smart parents, but we had no idea you were so technologically advanced. You've obviously been listening to Opa's song about your being "sweet, smart, and a beauty." Don't let it go to your head, though. Just being cute and cuddly is a tough gig these days. Good thing you are smart to boot. Speaking of boot, it's a good thing you won't need a boot, clamp, or other devise for your left foot. Your dancing career has gone off hold. You could even be the first left-footed female kicker for the Bucs! The sky's the limit! In fact, with such technical skills, you could become a pilot. That way you could avoid the furry thing licking your head. They aren't allowed loose in the plane. Yet.

As for your daddy and mommy, they do get some attention. Don't feel too sorry for them. After all they get to show you off to the admiring throng. And they do have some life of their own--for at least three hours a day. If they're good to you, you can increase that a bit over time.

With your email account will come all kinds of stuff besides the enlarging ads and pitches to send money to Nigerian banks. By the way, don't fall for either of these pitches. Get daddy to explain what is supposed to be enlarged besides your bank account. Cute may still pay off after all.

We are glad you entered the wide world in our family. For a rookie, you show lots of potential to become a caring, independent (off the charts independent?) person. You certainly have a caring supporting cast around you

Love,

Oma and Opa
